Traditional Cherokee Pottery
During our HS art classes today, we had a demonstration by two ladies from Cherokee Heritage Center. They explained about how the Plains Indians made, decorated, fired, and used clay pottery. They brought examples and materials for us to see and create our own small pinch pots. Due to our lack of a kiln we had to use air dry clay, however it was perfect for our short class period.
Smacking the pinch pot edges with a textured paddle is a quick way to add texture and design.
